Miscellaneous
These are photos that I have taken with the Canon 300d which didn't fall into their own category. I put all of them here together. Note that this "miscellaneous" is different to the "miscellaneous" group of photos elsewhere in the gallery taken with a different camera.
I like this photo. Taken with a macro lens, a large drop of water on a CD (upside down).
I could have cropped the edges to remove the other trees but I felt that leaving the image like this reinforced that the other trees didn't like this pine and made it stand alone.
This is a cool photo. Strong sunlight behind and to the left casting strong shadows, flashes left and in front of car to fill in the shadows.
I like this shot. The colours are really vibrant. Plus we don't get too many golden sunsets - mainly red or dull yellow ones.
This car was (probably) stolen and dumped here. Interestingly, this section of sand now has a road on it. No idea what happened to this car, just driving past and stopped to take some photos. Although I do find it strange just how far someone was able to drive it over soft sand.
Another macro shot of water on a CD. More pronounced light this time, giving a nice prismatic effect.
This one is interesting because I wasn't planning for it. One day I got home, looked down and saw that the car's odometer was sitting on exactly 300,000km. Ran inside, grabbed camera and took a shot. The engine isn't on, that's why the battery and oil lights are on
I knew the changeover was coming up, but I didn't really pay attention. I would have been carrying the camera with me and pulled over when it came up - if I'd been planning for it. As it worked out, nice photo in the comfort of my driveway. Gotta love happy coincidences.
Water drops on one of our plants after it rained. Would have looked better with an off-camera flash. I really should plan my shots better.
Nice little ornament that we have. It's shiny.
We don't get frost too often around these parts. A cold winter morning resulted in these little ice flakes over everything.
More frost, from the same winter morning. This time on the tonneau cover on the back of the ute.
I like this shot, very serene.
A simple composition of breakfast. Foreground, middle ground and background all present.
Night sky, partial cloud, circa ten p.m.
More night photography. This was taken near the Mirrabooka shopping centre which keeps the parking lot lights on at night. This causes loads of "light pollution" reflecting up into the sky and giving the clouds and under-lit feel.
My old room, in one of its more cluttered phases. I'm glad I don't have it like this any more.
I like this shot. Unposed, I just found a leaf with a small collection of water on it. Macro lens.
From a tiny bit of water to a huge amount of water hanging in the sky. Pre-storm clouds massing over suburbia. I like the effect of the lumpy clouds. (There's that cat again!)
Found this little guy hanging out on the fence and catching some sun. Normally spiders avoid sunlight, but this was a pretty cold day.
Close up on the corner of a tarpaulin that we have covering some stuff. I like the colours and the small details.
Early evening skies over the woods near our place.
A utility vehicle in its natural habitat - the building site.
Found this little guy (or gal) making a cocoon. I kept an eye on it to try and get a photo of it coming out as a butterfly, but it happened while I was at work.
